Ricky Palermo Spinal Injury Golf Tournament Saturday, August 1st, 2026

  30 years? How did that happen? On one hand it feels like time has flown by, but on the other hand, it feels like an eternity; especially when I’m not feeling well, like this past January when I was fighting a case of Influenza A. I contacted Dr. Barth Green, cofounder of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, for guidance. While in UMMC’s ER at 2:30 am he continued to check on me via text to make sure we kept him updated and to make sure that we were doing everything necessary for a Spinal Injured person to pull through. I can’t tell you how fortunate I feel when he tells me that I am family and he loves me. Dr. Green is a special person that gives of himself, without hesitation. 

  Our foundation’s awareness and donations have continued to grow and we are happy to team up with JT Turnbull and his family (Read more about it on the back of this page). This year, we have been contacted to add yet another fundraising event, a Motorcycle Rally Ride. We feel blessed knowing that people continue to want to help us. This year’s event schedule will include a Batavia Comedy Show, Kids Soccer Clinic, a Motorcycle Ride and our annual Golf Tournament. Plus we are trying to pull off another Comedy Show in NYC.

This year’s annual golf tournament will be a 1:00 pm shotgun start with 18 holes of fun at Terry Hills Golf Course on Saturday, August 1st, 2026.  Golf includes a goodie bag, lunch before shotgun start, games to play on the course and a delicious dinner in the pavilion afterwards.  Winners of the golf ball drop, 50-50 raffle, closest to the pin, as well as team and auction winners will be announced during dinner. (Golf ball tickets can be purchased online and you don’t have to be present).  All purchases can be made on our website STORE.

All proceeds from these events will go to the same four beneficiaries; Rochester Regional Health at UMMC in Batavia/Strong Memorial Hospital (The Rochester Spine Association is working with us to get the first-ever FES Bike program started) / Batavia’s YMCA FES Bike Program and The Miami Project To Cure Paralysis. Thanks to our foundation, Rochester is finally on the path of getting its very own FES Bike Program, so people with neurological issues can exercise and stay in shape.

Our committee is so happy to welcome the Turnbull family to our madness. I love the enthusiasm they bring to the table and we are looking forward to working alongside them. I am so grateful to my committee for always making my ideas turn into fun, successful events where everyone goes home feeling good about what they have just experienced. In 29 years, we have now raised and donated over $2.2 million because of you, and hundreds more dedicated supporters throughout our community and country. I can’t THANK all of you enough!
