Annual Ricky Palermo Golf Tournament

Last year’s annual golf tournament (on August 3rd) started off with about 30 minutes of annoying light raindrops. Then the golfers were able to put away their umbrellas and enjoy the rest of the day having fun with us at Terry Hills Golf Course. 50 teams and 225 delicious dinners were served while prizes were handed out to the winners of each category. How We Got Started

In 1996, with the help of my family and close friends, we started The Ricky Palermo Spinal Injury Golf Tournament. Our first year we set a goal to raise five thousand dollars. By the end of the day, we had exceeded our goal by over fifty percent and raised eleven thousand five hundred dollars for spinal cord injury research.

Our tournament is one of the largest in Western New York with 200 plus golfers, raffles, fun, and even a helicopter golf ball drop.

Ricky Palermo Spinal Injury Golf Tournament Saturday, August 2nd 2025

WOW, here we are in our 29th year and continuing to raise awareness and host even more fun events that are helping hundreds, if not thousands of unsuspecting families who have just received devastating news of a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Because of your support I am excited to announce that this year we will be meeting even more friends as we have added two additional events listed below in the 2025 Scheduled Events. Every year I try to think of another fundraiser that will spread the word of SCI awareness and make even more friends. This year we have joined together to host a Corn Hole Tournament, plus an additional comedy show that will be held at the Gotham Comedy Club in NYC. All proceeds from these events will once again go to the same four beneficiaries; Rochester Regional Health at UMMC in Batavia/ Strong Memorial Hospital spinal wing/ Batavia’s YMCA FES bike program and The Miami Project To Cure Paralysis. These fun events have now raised and donated approximately $2 million in 28 years only because of you and so many additional incredible supporters! (RickyPalermofoundation.org – events schedule).

Scientists around the world and at The Miami Project continue to search for a cure and have just recently informed me about a neuro-chip study, which is showing great promise for the SCI. (TheMiamiproject.edu). This is yet another reason why SCI people like me, need to be in shape. I continue to pray that if and when the doctors call, many of us will be physically ready. I would surely hate to NOT be ready. So until then my goal is to stay healthy and host fun events that will raise as much money as possible and continue to help families that just fell victim to a SCI! This year’s annual golf tournament will be a 1:00 pm shotgun start with 18 holes of fun at Terry Hills Golf Course on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025. Golf includes a goodie bag, lunch before shotgun start, games to play on the course and a delicious dinner in the pavilion afterwards. Winners of the golf ball drop, 50-50 raffle, closest to the pin, as well as team and auction winners will be announced during dinner.

In addition, by popular demand, we are planning another DINNER/COMEDY SHOW, which will be held at our local Batavia Downs Gaming and Casino. Come and enjoy a delicious dinner and lots of laughs!!

I am so grateful for my committee that has continued to amaze me for the past 28 years. They present my ideas to the community and then create and host a terrific event that leaves everyone going home with a good feeling about what they have just experienced. I can’t THANK all of you enough!

Golf Ball Drop

Purchase a golf ball to enter our Tournament day helicopter golf ball drop . This golf ball drop is in memory of our loved ones who have passed but are still here with us in spirit. On the day of the 28th Annual Ricky Palermo Foundation Golf Tournament we will drop all of the purchased balls from a helicopter. Each ball receives a number and if yours is closest to the pin or even better, a hole in one, you will win fifty percent of the funds raised for this special part of our yearly event.
