How We Got Started
In 1996, with the help of my family and close friends, we started The Ricky Palermo Spinal Injury Golf Tournament. Our first year we set a goal to raise five thousand dollars. By the end of the day, we had exceeded our goal by over fifty percent and raised eleven thousand five hundred dollars for spinal cord injury research.
Our tournament is one of the largest in Western New York with 200 plus golfers, raffles, fun, and even a helicopter golf ball drop.

It’s so incredible to think about how much awareness and money all of you have helped me raise and donate to our local hospitals and our bike program at the Batavia YMCA, while also supporting the research at The Miami Project To Cure Paralysis, which is working each day to cure paralysis. We have now raised and donated approximately $1.9 million in 28 years! Thanks to all of you for your continued support!
Many of you may remember how our RICKY PALERMO FOUNDATION has been able to help many families, but this year our efforts were involved with helping one of our own supporters. Usually I do not know anything about the person that has been injured, but this time was much different. This time it was one of us and we were able to help with many things, but still not helpful enough to cure paralysis. Each year, the scientists get closer and they are continuing to assist more and more people out of wheelchairs, but still not yet able to cure all of us. So I hope that your continued support will get us even closer this year! I wonder whose dollar will be THE dollar that reaches the ultimate goal – I hope it’s ours!!
This year’s annual golf tournament will be a 1:00 pm shotgun start with 18 holes of fun at Terry Hills Golf Course on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. It will include lunch before the shotgun start, games to play on the course and a delicious dinner in the pavilion afterwards. Winners of the golf ball drop, 50-50 raffle, closest to the pin, as well as team and auction winners will be announced. Please come at noon or earlier to register, eat lunch and try your luck at our 15’ Vegas putt.

Golf Ball Drop
Purchase a golf ball to enter our Tournament day helicopter golf ball drop . This golf ball drop is in memory of our loved ones who have passed but are still here with us in spirit. On the day of the 28th Annual Ricky Palermo Foundation Golf Tournament we will drop all of the purchased balls from a helicopter. Each ball receives a number and if yours is closest to the pin or even better, a hole in one, you will win fifty percent of the funds raised for this special part of our yearly event.
